Whether or not an HVAC maintenance plan is worth it depends on a number of factors, including the age and condition of your HVAC system, the climate you live in, and your budget.
In general, however, HVAC maintenance plans can be a good investment. They can help extend your HVAC system’s life, improve efficiency, and prevent costly repairs.
If you are considering an HVAC maintenance program, it’s wise to shop around and compare plans from different providers. You should also ensure that the plan you choose covers your needed services.
Here are some things to consider when choosing an HVAC maintenance plan:
- The cost of the plan. HVAC maintenance plans can range in price from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars per year.
- The services that are included in the plan. Some plans only cover basic maintenance, while others include more comprehensive services such as system tune-ups and refrigeration level readings (see our maintenance checklist earlier on this page).
- The reputation of the HVAC company. Be sure to choose a company with a good reputation for providing quality service.
If you are unsure whether or not an HVAC maintenance plan is right for you, talk to a qualified HVAC technician. They can help you assess your needs and make the best decision for your home.
In general, it is recommended that you have your HVAC system serviced at least once a year. This will help ensure that your system is running properly and efficiently and that it will last many years.
However, if you live in a climate with extreme temperatures, like at Lake of the Ozarks, it is advisable to have your HVAC system serviced more often. For example, if you live in a hot climate, you may need to have your air conditioner serviced twice a year. And since Missouri experiences extremes in both heat and cold, it’s wise to service your AC in the Spring and your heating system in the Fall.
